183) My Decluttering Business

I started to sell used material goods through FaceBook Marketplace since last November.

I like to connect with my buyer as well. I try to satisfy my buyer on the purchased product.

"If you are dissatisfied, you can get return it with a full refund," I tell my buyer.

I began to declutter at this time too.

I learned how to declutter from watching Netflix documentary, Minimalism. And reading Marie Kondo's book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. And reading Greg McKeown's book, Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less.

I continue to find more sources in decluttering. Because I like to keep learning.

My way of decluttering is choosing to either donate, sell, recycle, or junk items.

Decluttering and selling gave me an idea to start on a business.

I offer two options to my client.
Option 1: I'll give you a price estimate on how much to declutter your home.

Option 2: This is free. I can take what is worth taking to sell on my FB Marketplace. I am still helping you to declutter home.

My first client on my decluttering business happened on June 16.

I met first client through friend's dad. He is a realtor and broker for the last 33 years. He introduced me to his potential client, Frances. Because I am working for him. And I'm in the process of becoming a realtor.

The art of networking and interacting.

It's connected. Once I pass my realtor state exam, I am able to help my client sell home. And declutter home too. I also have been lifting weights in gym since last November. I need to stay fit in order to lift heavy load items.

The art of selling, decluttering, and lifting.

I told Frances about myself. And my business. I offered her my two options.

"You are my first ever client. You can check a price estimate on 1-800-GOT-JUNK if you would like," I told Frances. "Go for the cheaper option. I'm not trying to rip you off."

She decided to choose me.

Frances told me to take my time. (I followed it literally to the point I did take my time.)

FYI, this is not Frances' home. It is her sister's home. But her sister passed away a year ago. (RIP to her sister.) This home is on probate sale. It's not yet approved from the court to market and sell at its best possible price.

Her friend from Stockton visited me. Because he found the water valve in home to get the water running.

He assumed I wasn't able to finish it on time. He believed I would finish decluttering home by my birthday on February 3. Because he saw I was the only guy working on the job. And I was short in height.

He did get me motivated. And he made me realize to work all day at a good pace.

And my pretty friend will be visiting me on July 1.

I need my energy.

I found a way to tackle and finish the decluttering by July 1.

Picture of backyard storage shown below. I forgot to take a picture of it when it was cluttered. More trash bags were not shown.

I am surprised every time I look at the cluttered and decluttered video of home. I was able to grind it out. It was a work in progress.

I recorded, documented, and experimented this first ever decluttering project. Some good, some bad. It's normal. Because it was my first time to start a business. I'm learning on my way through.

I hired a friend I met through FB Marketplace. He did a great job in removing and smashing the heavy load.

"You are lucky. I'm charging you $800 for 3 days," I told my friend. "That's $30 an hour."

I offered my younger cousins to work for me. It was a high offer. I'm glad they weren't able to help me. I saved a lot of money.

Today, I started on decluttering garage of Frances' sister. Because she was satisfied on how I was able to declutter home and backyard storage. (I'll write a blog about it later on.)

She liked how I was able to update and notify her via email every time I decluttered home. I would message her. And take a picture about its status.

I did tell her I found  leaked photos of her sister as I was decluttering. But I wasn't sure if I should have told her. It took me a week to tell her about it. Because I was processing.

I haven't shown her the actual photos yet.

Frances might see her in a different way now.

A friend told me you do not need to reveal the truth about a deceased one. Because they are already gone.  And it can change everything.

Going back to my decluttering business.

You want to declutter, tidy, or empty your home. I'm here to get it done.

Message or comment me if you are interested.

Feel free to share it to your family, friends, and relatives too.

I enjoy decluttering. And I'm looking forward to satisfy my client.
